day 41

I think that there might have been a few sore heads this morning. Mine was fine since I switched to water in the evening. Sensible move.

I went into Midleton to shop in the morning and then went over to The Grainstore at Ballymaloe House for a wine tasting. 35 euros a head so NONE went in the spittoon. Anne-Claude Leflaive, owner/winemaker Domaine Leflaive, Puligny-Montrachet, Burgundy, has been making biodynamic wines since 1997 and gave a really interesting presentation covering the history of the vineyard and biodynamics, and then talked us through the tasting of five of her wines. She is is one of the best white wine makers in the world. My favourite was number 4 – not sure how much I’ll be buying since I just checked the retail price – over £100.00 a bottle! I guess 35 euros was a bargain.

A party over in Ballycotton in the evening followed by an early night. Phew.
