Wednesday is usually organic gardening with Tim but this week it was with Susan who worked with Tim to make the school gardens organic in 1999 I think (we’re talking early morning with no coffee – my memory is not reliable!) We never quite made it outside to the garden – just as well since it was pouring. Our morning began (well, continued in my case) with Darina making a couple of biscuits – speedily, since we were already running a little late. Next came the morning demonstration which was a large selection of canapés.
In the afternoon an ex-Ballymaloe student, Shermin Mustafa, came to demonstrate sushi. I love sushi so was paying very close attention to what she was doing. Kyoko, who is from Japan, also gave us a demonstration on how she makes sushi at home – a much more relaxed style. I’m looking forward to making (or trying to make) sushi when I’m home.
In the evening we were all very stressed as we had to have not only our menu chosen for the final exam, but also the food order in by 9am on Thursday morning. A late night!
