Just for a change, we had no cooking today. Instead we spent the day with Blathnaid Bergin, The Restaurant Advisor (and Darina’s sister). We spent the day talking (and thinking) about The Business of Making Food Pay. We learnt how to cost a meal – crucial when planning your menu – and saw just how easy it is to lose money in the food business.
At coffee time we sang happy birthday to Hayley and had birthday cake (made by the teachers).
In the evening our house was having a party for Mary’s birthday. Unfortunately, Mary spent the day in bed with a migraine. Luckily for us Angelique’s daughter, Caroline, was here for the weekend and she spent the afternoon with Darina’s recipes! We managed to get home early and all worked together to make sure everything was ready in time. We poured some wine (somehow managed to eat our way through 2 packets of Doritos which were meant for the dip – oooops!) and lo and behold it was all done. And of course there was another birthday cake!!!
