I just don’t know where the year has gone! For those of you who have only recently tuned in to my blog, for the last 10 years I have been meeting up with three friends from my year at school to have lunch at Harvey Nichols in Edinburgh. Out of those ten years, we’ve only had a rainy day once which is amazing. The weather on Saturday was fabulous which was not only good for us, but also for all the tourists who are visiting Edinburgh during the Festival. The city is really busy and a nightmare for those driving (not us!) as there are tram lines being laid. Ah well, one day it’ll be finished and travelling round the city on the trams will be fun!
The Forth Floor Restaurant has amazing views and the tables have crisp white linen tablecloths and napkins (and they even have napkin rings!). My first course was a caramelised yellow peach salad with Basajo cheese, sweet pickled beetroot, spring onions and roast pistachio. (Basajo was a blue cheese from Italy.) My main course was North Atlantic Sea Bass with saffron potatoes, wilted baby gem, preserved lime, tomato and olive salsa, tomato butter. Both tasted delicious and the peach salad looked particularly pretty. We washed it all down with a few wee glasses of prosecco (no, I will absolutely not say how many, it wouldn’t be polite!).
I also had some ice cream for dessert. I had three scoops in a really neat frosted glass dish – passion fruit and yoghurt, raspberry and strawberry. Mmmmmm, yummy, but I forgot to take a pic. Might it have been too many wee glasses of the prosecco? You’ll never know. 🙂
