bigger is better

Well, let me clarify things here – we’re not talking huge, marrow sized courgettes (thankfully!). Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall suggests picking your courgettes when they’re the size of your finger. And I’m thinking he means his finger, not mine. If we get a week of good weather we could be eating our very own home-grown courgettes this weekend! Oh, it’s so exciting! I’m particularly looking forward to trying the flowers stuffed with ricotta and dipped in tempura batter and then deep fried. I rarely eat deep fried food so they better be good! Better than good, in fact. I’ll let you know.


The tomatoes are beginning to appear …


although they’re still very tiny and very green. But they’re definitely growing. And there’s always green tomato chutney …….
